Thea Trio

was put together in 2006 by Tereza Staňková (vocals), Jakub Zomer (piano, vocals) and Marian Friedl (double bass).
Their repertoire consists of classical and modern jazz standards, blues and a few original compositions. Tereza’s mellow alto intermingles with Jakub’s bluesy voice, and both get together in various jazz duets.
The trio occasionally includes guest musicians. Their range of expression can go from the pungent intimacy of a smoky jazz bar to the bouncing, swingy sound of a ballroom that tempts you to dance.

Tereza Staňková was born in 1979 in Liberec. She studied singing at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague and is now studying composition at the same school.
She sings in Techtle Mechtle, which performs mostly her own compositions, and in the jazz and Latin music project Julie a Band. She performs as a guest singer with Magnum Jazz Bigband.
As a composer she works with a various range of ensembles, mostly choirs. At the moment she also teaches singing.

Jakub Zomer was born in 1979 in Teplice. He belongs among the most distinguished Czech jazz piano players. He studied composition and piano at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and has been teaching there ever since. Jakub spent a long time with the band Pragasón, which performs original Cuban music, and he was a member of the band of a Brazilian female singer, Yvonne Sanchez. He has also worked with the Slovak female singer Miriam Bayle and with the Czech guitar player Roman Pokorný (with whom he collaborated on his latest album, Hot Jazz News).

Marian Friedl was born in 1979 in Frýdek Místek. In 2002 he graduated from his double bass studies at the Janáček conservatory in Ostrava. He is a member of the bands Bossa Nova Sensation and Desmond Projekt, and he accompanies the British singer Maria Tecce.
